The Keene Outdoors story began with a problem that needed a solution. After years of ground hunting in the cold Iowa winters, father and son Dave and Brent Keene began building box blinds to make hunting more comfortable. The blinds worked, but moving them was time consuming and difficult.
One day a friend mentioned that he wished he could make his blind portable. Dave replied that he had been thinking about the same idea. That conversation started what would become one of the most important innovations in modern hunting equipment.
By the summer of 2015 the Keenes had built their first prototype using an old trailer axle, scrap metal, and a lot of determination. Within months they were testing a design that allowed hunters to move blinds safely and quickly without extra help.
The design was granted a patent in under a year. The Omega Lift was born and Keene Outdoors officially entered the market.
From Workshop to National Recognition
When the Keenes attended their first trade show at the Iowa Deer Classic in 2016, hunters and landowners immediately saw the value in their idea. Comments like “You’ve really got something here” confirmed that they had built a product hunters needed.
Production expanded in 2017 and dealers across the Midwest began carrying the Omega Lift. Hunters from Wisconsin to Texas started relying on it for its strength, ease of setup, and mobility. The Alpha HD stationary platform was added later, giving hunters two dependable options for elevation and stability.
